Fine lines and wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process. As the American Academy of Dermatology explains, fine lines are caused by repeated contraction of facial muscles, including those you use to smile, laugh, or frown.

As you grow older, the collagen and elastin in your skin begin to break down causing the skin to become thinner and less supple. Collagen and elastin loss causes fine lines to mature into deep wrinkles. While you cannot prevent your body from aging, you can manage the appearance of wrinkles, skin discolorations, and texture.

In southern California, we are continuously exposed to strong sunlight and UV rays that are damaging to our skin, and can accelerate the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

Spark Health aesthetic procedures help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, around and under the eyes, around the mouth and on the neck and chest. They also help to restore volume loss and lift and tighten the skin on the face, neck and chest.

    What causes fine lines?

Environmental and behavioral factors are major contributors to your skin appearance.

    • Smoking
    • Sun exposure
    • Air pollution
    • Using the wrong skincare products

Though deeper wrinkles can be treated effectively, it is best to treat preventatively. Spark Health's doctors and aesthetic experts offer some of the best treatments for fine lines and wrinkles and prescribe post-treatment care plans, including prescription skincare. Our skincare specialists work with each patient to customize a holistic treatment plan with solutions for all of your skincare and aesthetic concerns.

Fine Lines and Wrinkle Treatments at Spark Health:

    • Classic Microneedling
    • Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling
    • Radiofrequency (RF) Skin Tightening
    • Neuromodulators
    • Dermal Fillers

    Classic Microneedling:

We use the SkinPen for classic microneedling with hyaluronic acid, platelets and/or growth factors. This helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles through collagen induction.

    Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling:

Radiofrequency has all of the benefits of classic microneedling, with the addition of radiofrequency energy. Adding radiofrequency can mean faster results and may reduce the number of treatments needed. It also provides the added benefit of lifting and tightening the skin.

    Radiofrequency (RF) Skin Tightening:

Radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening involves using a handheld device that sends RF energy to stimulate collagen production to lift and tighten the targeted area. It can be used for the face, neck, chest and other areas of the body.

    Neuromodulators:

Our experienced injectors use a variety of neuromodulators to stop the muscle contractions that contribute to wrinkle formation, especially in the forehead, crow's feet and between the eyebrows (frown lines).

    Dermal Fillers:

Our experienced injectors use a variety of fillers to restore volume loss in the face and lips, including the cheeks and around the mouth.

    FAQs

Since there are a variety of options that will treat fine lines and wrinkles, it is best to schedule a skincare consultation to determine the right treatment for you.

Wrinkles can be treated with a combination of procedures for the best results, and repeated treatments will also help to stop new lines and wrinkles from forming. Common areas that we treat for fine lines and wrinkles are the forehead, crow’s feet (around the eyes) under the eyes, around the mouth, and the neck and chest.

Topical treatments usually work best in combination with other procedures, and your doctor will work with you to recommend the right skincare regimen for your skin type and concerns.

Some treatments, like neuromodulators and fillers, have faster results, usually within days of the injections. Procedures like microneedling and RF skin tightening can take a few weeks to see results. Treatments will need to be repeated at regular intervals to see the best results.

Neuromodulator injections need to be repeated at regular intervals, around every 3-4 months for best results. Many dermal fillers will last up to 1 year. Microneedling and radiofrequency treatments usually need 3-6 treatments to see full results, with maintenance treatments or touch ups as needed.

Your doctor will review your skincare routine to ensure that you are using the most effective products for your skin type and concerns. We have a variety of high-quality skin care products available at the clinic, and your doctor may also recommend prescription skincare from a compounding pharmacy.

With aging, the collagen and elastin in your skin begin to break down causing the skin to become thinner and less supple. Collagen and elastin loss cause fine lines to mature into deep wrinkles. In southern California, UV exposure from abundant sunlight can accelerate signs of aging.

Classis microneedling excels in evening out skin tone, treating melasma and hyperpigmentation, and treating textural concerns.

RF microneedling adds radiofrequency energy, a heat therapy, it has all of the benefits of classic microneedling with the added benefit of skin tightening and lifting.  You may see faster results with the addition of RF energy.

If your main concerns is melasma or hyperpigmentation, classic microneedling is the best choice. For loose skin, acne scars, textural concerns, and fine lines and wrinkles, RF microneedling is the most beneficial.

As we age, our skin loses collagen and elastin, which can result in a skin laxity. Radiofrequency energy helps to restore skin structure by increasing collagen production, helping skin to look tighter and more toned. Radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening involves using a handheld device that sends RF energy to stimulate collagen production to lift and tighten the targeted area.
